An unattended baggage that tested positive for RDX triggered panic at the Indira Gandhi International airport on Friday.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said an unattended black trolley bag was spotted at the arrival forecourt area of Terminal 3 at 00:56 a.m. The CISF security guard on duty in the area immediately informed his shift in-charge and others concerned.
An Explosive Vapour Detector (EVD) check was carried out on the bag, which turned out positive for RDX. The baggage was also checked by a guide dog, which also gave a positive signal for the explosive substance. Immediately, a bomb disposal team was called and the area was cordoned off. The movement of vehicles and passengers was stopped.

“Following the standard operating procedure, the bomb disposal team took X-ray images of the bag, which were also not clear and found doubtful. Subsequently, the baggage was safely taken to a cooling pit at the isolation area with the help of Threat Containment Vehicle (TCV). Due to the incident, movement of passengers was restricted for a couple of hours as precautionary measures. After the bag was cleared, normal movement for passengers was resumed,” said a CISF officer.
