Two Uttar Pradesh policemen were among four men arrested on Saturday for allegedly gang-raping a 28-year-old woman in Noida’s Sector 105 on Friday night. A fifth accused is on the run.
The arrested policemen have been identified as Banshiram Sharma and Subhash Chaudhary. Both belong to the 49th Battalion of the Provincial Armed Constabulary of the UP Police.
While Chaudhary drives the official vehicle of a senior officer, Sharma is a head constable in the force.

Around 11 p.m., when the victim, from Old Shahdara in Delhi, was with a male friend at an under-construction house, the two policemen in uniform along with three others -- identified as Bunty, Arun and Jeetu -- barged in.
A senior police officer said they asked the victim’s male friend to leave and took turns to rape her.
“They also robbed the girl of all her belongings, including her debit card, and locked her in the same room before leaving. They later used the debit card for getting petrol filled in their vehicle,” the officer said.

The victim somehow managed to free herself and approached the police. A medical examination confirmed rape. Her statement was recorded a case under sections 376 (rape), 392 (robbery), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 334 (voluntarily causing hurt on provocation) was registered at the Sector 105 police station. The officer said after the registration of the case, a search was initiated and all the accused except Jeetu, were arrested. The accused have confessed to the crime, the police said.
It is learnt that the transactions made by the accused through the victim’s debit card served as a crucial lead in the case.
