Two killed, one injured in Sohna fire

Blaze engulfed the house; gas cylinder burst during the fire

The wife of the house owner and a carpenter working at the house died in the blaze at Sohna on Thursday afternoon.

Two persons, including a woman, were burnt to death and another person sustained burns when a fire broke out in a house in Sohna on Thursday.

The fire broke out around 1.30 p.m. and soon engulfed the entire house.

“It seems that some paint drums and thinner were stored in the house. These caused the fire to spread rapidly,” said Station House Officer (Sohna City) Ram Kumar. However, he said the cause of fire is still unknown.

A cooking gas cylinder also burst due to the fire.

The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old Sunita Madan, the wife of the house owner, and Nanhe Singh, a carpenter who was working at the house. Madan’s brother Sanjay also sustained minor burn injuries. “He is said to be out of danger,” said Mr. Kumar.

Madan’s husband Ravi Madan runs a hardware shop in the neighbourhood.

He was at shop at the time of incident.
