In two back-to-back robberies that happened in Greater Noida on Tuesday night, a cab driver was relieved of his car by unidentified passengers in Kasna, while a businessman from Khurja was robbed of ₹92,000 by armed men.

Afzal Mustakeem, a taxi driver who hails from Dankaur, was attacked by assailants, who posed as passengers, and escaped with the vehicle.

According to the police, at 9:30 p.m., the victim picked up four men from Alpha 1 Commercial belt after they booked a ride to Indirapuram. But soon after the victim started the ride, they allegedly held him at gunpoint and took control of the vehicle.

“They blindfolded me near Maripat railway station near Bisrakh and later pushed me out of the car when the vehicle reached Dadri Bypass Road. They then escaped with the vehicle,” said Mr. Afzal.

In the second case, Sajid, who runs a vegetable selling business, was on his way to Noida from his native Khurja after attending a wedding with business partner Shahrukh and brother Anas in his car when the incident took place. When the car reached near police chowki in Kot village of Dadri, the vehicle was allegedly intercepted by three armed men. They broke the window of his car when Sajid did not open the door, said the police.

“One of them attacked my brother on his head with the butt of a pistol while another held me at gunpoint and asked to part with the cash. They took away ₹ 92,000 and fled from the spot,” Sajid said in his complaint.
