Twenty-four officers conferred Police Medals

Five-man team that took down gangster Dabhodia in 2013 also awarded

Twenty-four Delhi police officers have been conferred Police Medals for their exemplary service, on Independence Day.

Special Commissioner of Police (crime) Satish Golchha, a 1992-batch IPS officer; along with ACPs Rajender Singh Yadav and Sandeep Pali have been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

Mr. Yadav has been involved in investigating a number of high-profile, including the December 16 gangrape case, Jigisha Ghosh murder, Sunanda Pushkar death, and Ponty Chadha’s murder.

Five officers from the Special Cell: Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav; ACPs Lalit Mohan Negi, Hridaya Bhushan, and Ramesh Chander Lamba; and sub-inspector Sukbir Singh, have been awarded Police Medals for Gallantry.

They formed the team that risked its life and killed gangster Dabhodia in an encounter in 2013. Two of Dabodia’s aides were also killed in the encounter that took place near a hotel in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj.

Sixteen officers have been awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, including Additional DCPs Amarendra Kumar Singh and Rajendra Singh Sagar; and ACPs Birjender Singh Rai and Sanjay Dutt.

The list also includes four women officers, including Sub-Inspector Anita Kalia.

Home Guards’ medal

The district staff officer of the Directorate General of Home Guards (Delhi), Girwar Singh, was awarded the President’s Home Guards’ Medal for distinguished service, on Wednesday. President Ram Nath Kovind awarded the medal to Mr. Singh.
