Your personal banking information is no longer personal.
Your account details and credit and debit card information are being sold in the market on demand within the country and outside. This has been claimed by a news channel in its sting titled Operation Maha ‘Bharat’ .
The channel, Live India, claimed on Saturday that apart from the name, mobile number and other personal information of customers, information relating to their personal loan, home loan, income and business is being sold to vested interests.

The confidential information can be used in cyber crimes and also by enemy countries in incidents like the one in which SMSes were allegedly being sent from a neighbouring country on mobile phones of people from Northeast India living in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore to create a feeling of insecurity among them, the channel said.
The news channel said during a 10 month-long operation it obtained data of 10 crore bank and telecom customers in various States.
The channel claimed it verified the authenticity of the data by contacting some of the persons whose details they had procured and the same turned out to be correct.

The sting shows 12 people engaged in the wrong-doing as they share how they procure the information from some bank employees in lieu of a handsome amount.
Channel editor Satish K. Singh refused to disclose the names of the banks whose employees are selling the data. He also did not speak on whether these are nationalised or private banks or both.
