Taking a swipe at the Bharatiya Janata Party for inducting Kiran Bedi and Shazia Ilmi into the saffron fold, Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said their switch to the BJP days ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls does not hold any significance as the “truth would ultimately prevail”.
He was addressing a gathering in Trilokpuri that witnessed communal violence a few months ago. While he admitted that leaving the government in his first stint as Chief Minister was a big mistake, Mr. Kejriwal targeted the Narendra Modi government for having ‘failed’ to keep its promises to bring down inflation and check corruption.
“Earlier, they brought 200 MPs. I went to a rally of the BJP where there were about seven people on stage and 10 people in the audience. When that did not work the Prime Minister held a rally that flopped. Now they have brought Kiran Bedi and Shazia Ilmi. However, it is the truth that would ultimately prevail,” said Mr. Kejriwal, adding that when he was the Chief Minister, the Congress and the BJP made it impossible for him to work and that was the main reason for quitting.

“We thought they would hold re-election and we would get all the seats and be able to work properly, but they cheated us by not holding elections. I too, made a mistake, I am after all human. The people were angry with me. I will not make such a mistake again,” he said.
