The Tihar Jail authorities on Thursday informed a court here that allegations of sexual harassment levelled by suspected al-Qaeda operative and British national Samiun Rahman were an attempt to perpetuate the three-tier security provided to him inside the prison.
Mr. Rahman is lodged there on charges of recruiting Rohingya Muslims for the terror outfit and training them to fight against the Myanmar Army.
“The allegations levelled by the prisoner [Mr. Rahman] are just an attempt to perpetrate the three-tier security system and also browbeat the prison administration,” the jail administration said in its reply to the charges.

Mr. Rahman had alleged in his complaint filed in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Siddharth Sharma said that Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) personnel came to search his cell on November 2, and around five of them personnel searched his person and touched him inappropriately.
The inmate alleged that he faced such harassment because he is a British national and urged the court to look into the matter and order the area Station House Officer to lodge an FIR against the five ‘culprits’.
The jail’s internal security is entrusted with the TSP. The Special Cell of the Delhi Police had arrested Mr. Rahman in September.

He had also planned to set up bases in Mizoram or Manipur to train radicalised youths, the investigating agency further alleged.
