Three Noida police personnel have been suspended after they allegedly thrashed a 40-year-old man in Ecotech III area of Greater Noida late on Friday.
The cops were allegedly drunk at the time of the incident.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Mahender Singh, head constable Surinder Lal and constable Dhananjay Yadav intercepted Sandeep Gupta car’s opposite Kulesara police post around 9.30 p.m., the police said.

“The ASI had got information that a car carrying many commercial LPG cylinders was on the way to Kulesara. The trio thought that it was a matter of black marketing and they laid a barricade opposite the police post,” said K. K. Rana, Station House Officer of Ecotech-3 police station.
The trio stopped Mr. Gupta’s car for inspection and found five LPG cylinders in it. Mr. Gupta was asked about the cylinder but he allegedly did not have the documents.

“The three policemen were under the influence of alcohol, who then asked for the documents of the car, but Mr. Gupta allegedly could not produce those either. The police personnel started arguing with him and he was beaten up,” Mr. Rana added.
The three didn’t allow Mr. Gupta to leave but he somehow managed to call the police control room and reported the matter after which the information was given to the Ecotech-3 police station.
“After receiving the information, I along with other police personnel rushed to the spot and found the victim in a state of shock. He narrated the incident after which the three cops were rushed to a government hospital in Bisrakh,” said Mr. Rana.
Medical report
The medical reports confirmed that the trio were under the influence of alcohol, the police said. An FIR has been registered against them.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Gautam Budh Nagar) Luv Kumar said that the three policemen have been suspended and an inquiry has been initiated.
He said that the officers had no right to do checking after consuming alcohol, and added that disciplinary action would be taken against them.
