Three nabbed after failed burglary bid

Three thieves were caught by a police team while they were fleeing from a South Delhi house following a failed burglary attempt early on Saturday.

The gang included a juvenile. Two other accomplices managed to flee.

The police said their identities have been established and a hunt is on.

The incident was reported from a locality in South Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar.

Residents of a house into which the five burglars had entered called up the police control room.

The suspects had managed to give their plan away when one of them made a noise while entering the house. The residents raised an alarm and tried to chase the thieves, but they managed to escape. It was then that the police were informed.

A PCR van was dispatched to the crime spot. The police team was informed that the thieves had taken shelter in the same lane as the house.

The PCR staff launched a chase on foot upon spotting one of the suspects. Two of them managed to escape while three others were nabbed.

A local police motorcycle patrolling staff too arrived in the meantime and the suspects were handed over.

The police said an iron rod, allegedly used to break into the house, was recovered from the suspects. They have been booked at the Lajpat Nagar police station. Their involvement in other possible previous cases is being probed.
