A Delhi court on Tuesday remanded three more accused in judicial custody in the documents theft case. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Satish Kumar Arora sent Lokesh Sharma, Jitender Nagpal and Vipan Kumar to judicial custody till March 17 when the investigating officer in the case produced them before the court on expiry of their police custody. The investigating officer informed the court that their further police remand was not required.

The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has so far arrested 16 persons, including former journalist Santanu Saikia, in the case, and all of them are now in judicial custody.

There are two FIRs in the case. Thirteen accused are in one FIR and they are being prosecuted in the Patiala House courts, while the three other accused in the Dwarka district courts.

While seeking extension of the police remand of Lokesh Sharma, an employee of a consultancy firm, the investigating agency had last week submitted before the court that names of several private secretaries and assistants of bureaucrats had come to light in the case which required to be probed.

However, it informed the court on Tuesday that so far nothing concrete had been found against them and the probe was still going on.
