Supply to be augmented at Okhla WTP

Lakhs of South Delhi residents will benefit from the augmentation of supply at the Okhla Water Treatment Plant, which the Delhi Jal Board recently approved at a meeting. Currently, the plant produces 12 million gallons per day (MGD) of water but the plant is quite old and in need of rehabilitation. Some portions of the plant will be demolished to make way for a new infrastructure and the others will be rehabilitated, according to a senior DJB official.

The Rs.118.24 crore-project will include a 14 MGD plant and the rehabilitation of ranney wells along the river flood plain, which will supply the additional water needed for the plant. The new plant will have ozone treatment facilities to treat high levels of high ammonia.
