Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said here on Monday that farmers in the State would be given power connection by organising special camps from February 6. He emphasised the need for training and modernisation of the police, which was his government’s top priorities towards maintaining law and order.
“My government is committed to providing electricity to farmers and we are going to begin that process by organising special camps,” Mr. Manjhi said presiding over the Republic Day parade at the historic Gandhi Maidan here.
He said about 3,000 MW of power was being supplied to the State and by next year, it would be enhanced to 4,500 MW. “The State government has taken many initiatives in the field of energy and in the coming years, Bihar will have sufficient power to take it on the path of growth,” he said.

He said the government had adopted zero tolerance to corruption.
Mr. Manjhi listed his government’s achievements, and said that as part of a target to set up high schools in every panchayat, 1,291 such schools had been opened. For the welfare of Mahadalits and the poorest of the poor, his government had been providing “five decimal” free land instead of three decimal announced earlier by the Nitish Kumar government.
