Six-year-old rape victim’s condition stable

The police are awaiting the forensic report on the samples drawn from several suspects in the rape of a six-year-old girl inside a public convenience in Badarpur in New Delhi last week to zero in on the perpetrator. A large number of local residents were earlier rounded up for questioning in the case.

The victim is recuperating at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences after she under went surgery for the injuries she has sustained in the private parts. She is reported to be in a stable condition.

The police had earlier detained the attendant of the public convenience who was on duty when the incident took place in the afternoon of April 26. The girl lives in a locality that does not have an assured water supply and hence she used the public toilet for daily activities. On the fateful day, she had gone to take a bath when she was overpowered and raped. Injuries on her neck also indicated that an attempt was made to kill her.

Demanding immediate arrest of the perpetrator, angry area residents on Saturday staged a protest and blocked traffic on Mathura Road near Badarpur.

Another girl raped

In yet another case, a seven-year-old girl was raped allegedly by a young man at Moti Nagar in West Delhi a couple of days ago. The accused has been arrested.

The victim was alone in the house when Avadh, who works at a factory manufacturing fans, barged in and raped her. Based on a complaint by her parents, the police registered a case and arrested the accused after medical examination of the victim confirmed that she had been assaulted.
