Passerby among three killed in Delhi gang war

Five including two locals also injured

Bloodstains and spent bullet casings at a market in Sant Nagar in north Delhi after two gangs exchanged fire, resulting in the death of three persons on Monday.

In a suspected case of gang rivalry, members of a group opened fire at another at north Delhi’s Burari on Monday, killing three people, including a minor and a woman passer-by. Five persons were also injured in the incident, the police said.

The incident was suspected to be a fallout of a rivalry between Jitender Gogi and Tillu Tajpur gangs, the police added.

The deceased have been identified as Mukul alias Sunny, 16, a resident of Narela’s Nangal Thakran; a man suspected to be Sanjeet who is a member of the Gogi gang; and the passerby Sangeeta Sharma, 37, a resident of Sant Nagar.

The injured have been identified as Hemant alias Himanshu, Jitender alias Kala, Surinder alias Bitta, and two locals Santosh and Vashishth Rai.

Mukul, Himanshu, Jitender and Surinder are said to be distantly-related to the Tillu Tajpur gang, the police added.

A 58-year-old woman, who witnessed the incident said that four persons came out of a gym and went inside their SUV when another SUV came, hit the parked car and started firing indiscriminately.

Ms. Sharma was waiting for an auto to go to work when she was hit by a bullet.

Over 30 rounds were fired and empty cartridges of .32mm, 9mm and .76mm were found at the spot, said sources.
