The incident happened on Wednesday night when SHO Bhartender Singh, who was on the upper floor of the police station, heard some people quarrelling in the ground floor.

He found about 150 men standing in the courtyard of the police station, and a group of six men and a woman and another of 25 men standing on the other side of the gallery and abusing them. When Mr. Singh enquired about the matter, the group of six men and a woman alleged that the other group was threatening to abduct their son and kill him, a senior police official said.
