Directorate of Education issues circular

The ELCs will familiarise students with EVMs and VVPAT.

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has instructed all schools under its jurisdiction to establish Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC) to educate future voters and first-time voters about voter registration and the electoral process by engaging with resources and hands-on experience.

The DoE issued the circular on direction of the Chief Electoral Officer Delhi, that has formed a State Committee on Electoral Literacy (SCEL). The ELCs will familiarise students with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), and teach them about the electoral process.

The clubs will also make them understand the value of their vote and the need to exercise their suffrage in a confident, comfortable and ethical manner, informed the DoE.
