A Class VI student of Sarvodaya Government School in Chittaranjan Park was critically injured on Tuesday when he was accidently hit by a javelin in the school playground. The 11-year-old victim sustained injury to the head and is battling for life at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here.
The victim has been identified as Roshan Lama, a resident of Chirag Delhi. The incident took place around 4 p.m. during recess. The victim’s family members said though usually cricket and football are played by students in the ground, but on Tuesday some of Roshan’s seniors were practising javelin throw.
“Around 4-15 p.m. my father received a call that Roshan had sustained an injury on his head. He later found out that Roshan was injured by a spear that suddenly came and hit him on the head above his left ear. The impact was such that he collapsed on the ground,” said Roshan’s brother Rakesh (17).

Roshan was then rushed to a nearby private hospital but the doctors there referred him to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit.
Action demanded
Rakesh and his relatives demanded that action be taken against the principal and the physical education teacher of the school for their negligence. They questioned why senior students were allowed to practise javelin throw during recess when there was a risk of other students being hit.

The police have registered a case under Section 337 of the IPC against the physical training instructor of the school, identified as Sunil. He has been arrested. The school principal, too, has been asked to join the police investigation.
