A 32-year-old salesman sustained bullet injuries after two unidentified persons opened fire at an electronics shop in Dwarka’s Najafgarh on Monday, the police said.

The shop owner was allegedly getting extortion calls for the last few days and had refused to pay the money, said the police.

Randomly fired

According to a senior police officer, two men, suspected to be locals, opened fire at Sargam Electronics near furniture market in Najafgarh. The assailants randomly fired two bullets at the shop from the opposite side of the road, the police said.

One bullet pierced the glass of the shop and hit the wall while another hit Naveen Chauhan, the officer said.

Chauhan was rushed to Swastik Hospital from where he was referred to Manipal Hospital in Dwarka, he said. Police said that Chauhan is stable and out of danger.

Wanted to create fear

It seems like the accused persons wanted to create fear in the owner and it might be a case of extortion, the police said.

A case has been registered under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and investigation has been initiated, the police said.
