Robbers flee with 23 kg of silver

A total of 23 kilograms of silver and 350 grams of gold was allegedly stolen from a jewellery shop in Rohini’s Budh Vihar in the early hours of Saturday. The police said that 10-15 intruders allegedly committed the crime.

Praveen Aggarwal, owner of Shyam Jewellers, told the police that he got a call from his neighbour stating that 10-15 persons had broken the shutter of his shop and fled with the jewellery.

“Two of the robbers cornered the security guard and threatened him against raising the alarm,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta.

A beat constable was made aware of the incident by a passersby and the officer tried to chase them on his bike but they managed to flee, the police said.

Mr. Gupta said that that the police are questioning the guard and also scanning CCTV footage of the area.
