Report sought from Haryana Police over harassment

The Haryana Human Rights Commission has sought a report from the Rohtak Superintendent of Police in connection with an incident wherein a de-addiction centre owner allegedly tried to kill himself and was found injured outside his office.

A newspaper report had alleged that the man had taken the step as he was being harassed by the police.

A video also showed the injured man being dragged away by an officer. The incident happened on July 27.

Taking cognisance of the report, the commission has sought a reply within four weeks.
