A court here which is hearing Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s criminal defamation complaint against Delhi BJP president Vijender Gupta allowed her plea seeking personal exemption from court appearance on Friday.

Metropolitan Magistrate Saumya Chauhan exempted the Chief Minister from appearing in person on Friday but said she would have to appear on the next date of hearing, February 18, 2013.

Her counsel, Gajender Singh, said Ms. Dikshit could not attend because of a bereavement in her family in Mumbai, and she would return to the Capital only on Friday evening.
