Mr. Gupta said Garima would have been alive today had she not taken the car with her classmates. For this, he blamed the college for holding the examination in Narela, which is far from her house in Inderpuri.

No conveyance

Mr. Gupta said Garima had asked Ritu to meet outside her house around 7 a.m. on Monday. The two then stopped several auto-rickshaws, but they refused to ply to Narela. Cabs were also unavailable.

“Before leaving home, she said she was getting late and had to rush. Someone from the family would have dropped her if we knew she was unable to get an auto-rickshaw or a cab,” said Mr. Gupta.

Finally, Garima called Sanchit for help, after which he came to pick them up.

‘Driver was speeding’

Meanwhile, a police officer said Rajat, who was driving the car at the time of the accident, was speeding.

The vehicle’s tyre came off, and Rajat lost control of the vehicle. The car then hit the railing of the flyover as Rajat tried to avoid hitting a cyclist, the officer added.

Rajat’s post-mortem examination was conducted at the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mongolpuri and that of Garima was got conducted at the AIIMS Trauma Centre.

Raja and Rishabh are admitted at the AIIMS Trauma Centre, while Pranav is in BLK Hospital.
