The heavy rains on Saturday brought forth the reality of the monsoon preparedness of the civic bodies and the Public Works Department as several roads got submerged bringing the traffic to a virtual standstill.
The water-logged roads and uprooted trees led to chaos.
In the jurisdiction of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation alone water-logging was reported from as many as 26 places. Five trees, including one in CR Park and a wall of the MCD School in Madanpur Khadar, fell but no injuries were reported.

In the North Delhi Municipal Corporation area water-logging was reported from 23 places. Seven trees fell, including one in Daryaganj police station, which crushed the car of the Deputy Commissioner of Police. At three places in the NDMC area, parts of buildings fell due to heavy rains.
Civic body officials had to open the choked drains of the underpass near Pragati Maidan in order to facilitate smooth discharge of water.
Heavy rain also caused flooding in the forecourt of the arrival area of the Indira Gandhi International Airport, which affected the passenger movement and people coming out of the Terminal 3.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which operates and manages the airport, in a statement claimed that despite heavy rains at the airport, all passenger facilities remained unaffected.
“All flight operations are fully normal at the moment except one flight which was diverted and four flights which had to go around for a few minutes,” it said.
Rains also hit operations of Delhi Metro as two stations -- Malviya Nagar and Saket -- were reportedly closed for some time. Malviya Nagar metro station was closed for around 15-20 minutes after rain water reached till the concourse level.
“Malviya Nagar metro station was closed for around 15-20 minutes, between 2 and 2-30 p.m.,” a Delhi Metro spokesperson said, adding services in other section remained normal.
Northern Railway services were also hit as 13 trains which were to pass through Delhi got delayed due to flooding at some stations.
