Police are on the lookout for parents

Two premature girls were found abandoned in a park in north-west Delhi’s Keshav Puram on Friday evening.

Passerby spotted bodies

The police, who were informed by a passerby, said the babies were found in Rampura’s DDA park. The bodies have been taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital. “The bodies have been preserved at the hospital and will be kept for two days in case someone comes forward,” said a police officer, adding that the post-mortem exam would be conducted after two days.

Incidentally, the hands of the babies had tags tied to them that read ‘B/O Zohra’, said a senior police officer. With just the first name of the mother available, the police have contacted hospitals and nursing homes across the national Capital to identify her, he said.

No clue so far

“We are checking with hospitals and nursing homes nearby to identify the parents, but haven’t found find anything so far,” the police said, adding that no CCTV footage was available as there are no cameras in the area.

“We have registered a case under Section 318 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body),” the officer added.
