December 02, 2014 08:35 am | Updated April 07, 2016 02:25 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A public interest writ petition moved in the Delhi High Court has challenged the Union Government’s decision to postpone implementation of the Delimitation Commission’s recommendations for the Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies in Jharkhand.

The petitioner, Veterans’ Forum for Transparency in Public Life, has sought directions for quashing and declaring as unconstitutional Section 10B of the Delimitation Act, 2002, added through an amendment in 2008, providing that the delimitation before recommendations would continue to be in force till 2026.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw listed the matter for hearing on December 3.
