A senior police officer said on Thursday that police forces from several States where cases are registered against alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba ideologue Abdul Karim alias Tunda have approached them for his interrogation.
“We have received requests from States such as Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh where he is an accused in several cases of terrorist activities,” said the officer. Earlier on Wednesday, a team from the Punjab Police visited the Capital and interrogated Tunda regarding his engagements with the banned outfit -- Babbar Khalsa International -- which is allegedly behind several blasts in the State including the one that was foiled in 2009.
The officer added that because of the nature of the activities Tunda was involved in, they were also exploring the possibility of invoking provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act against him.

It is learnt that given his continuously changing versions and his claims of waning memory due to old age, the Delhi Police Special Cell have subjected him to a psycho-analysis to ascertain his mental health and whether his revelations are worth pursuing or not. Sources said Tunda was able to hoodwink even the experts conducting the test.
The first report of the test, which is carried out in two parts -- a psycho-pathology test and a projective test -- has been submitted and another one is awaited. A source claimed that Tunda was cautious with his responses to the questions posed to him. Tunda has already refused to take a lie detector test and the police suspect that the reason behind his reluctance to answer the questions, or giving misleading replies, could be the fear that they may lead to formation of evidence against him.
“It seems he has already decided what and how much he would divulge. He opens up usually but when asked to record anything on video or audio, he changes his versions or doesn’t speak at all,” said a source.
