Parents satisfied with government schools, reveals ASSOCHAM survey

Survey was conducted during summer break in May-June

Parents are satisfied with improvements in facilities and teaching methods in government-run schools, reveals a survey conducted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

They feel that other schools in the National Capital Region (NCR) must emulate the model of Delhi government-run schools, the study further said.

ASSOCHAM interacted through digital media and social networking sites with around 3,250 parents in districts under NCR (apart from NCT of Delhi). The survey was conducted during summer holidays in May-June.

‘Quality education’

Releasing the findings, ASSOCHAM secretary general D.S. Rawat said, “A lot is being done in the education sector both at the Centre and State levels. With Delhi government providing state-of-the-art facilities, improving infrastructure and quality of education, other States must follow suit to help shape a bright future for our children.”

“Some of those interviewed said that their relatives in Delhi have either recently moved their children or are thinking to get them admitted to State-run schools from private institutions,” the survey said.

Many said that through media reports and views of their relatives, they have learnt about Delhi government model of schools that have undergone a metamorphosis, added the report.
