Pre-exam parent teacher meetings (PTMs) were held in government schools with Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia visiting several of these across the city here on Saturday.
The PTMs were organised for parents whose children are in Classes IX to XII. The government had invited parents to meet with their children’s teachers before the Board examination for Classes X and XII and the year end exams for Classes IX and X.
Mr. Sisodia visited Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya, West Vinod Nagar, Govt Co-ed Seondary School IP Extension, Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya IP Extension, Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalayas in Gazipur, Anand Vihar, Trilokpuri Block 27, Trilokpuri Block 20, Kalyanpuri.

“The key to better academic performance lies in effective parent-teacher partnership. After our government initiated the first Mega PTM two years ago, PTMs have become a part of the government school experience. Today’s PTM was specifically aimed at parents of children in higher classes, so that parents could be encouraged to work with their children on exam preparation, in a sensitive manner. I am happy to see that PTMs have become part of the culture in our schools,” he said.
Teachers took parents and children through evaluated answer papers from the Pre-Board examination. Parents were explained the strengths and weaknesses of their children and suggested home exercises that parents and children can do together for preparing for the Board examination.
The Board examination is a crucial milestone for children in the current system, and it is important for parents to be involved in the academic progress of their children, the government said in a statement.

The Delhi government’s sustained effort to improve learning outcomes in government schools cannot succeed without the active participation of parents, the statement said further adding that regular PTMs have resulted in increased parental attention to children at home and a corresponding improvement in academic performance.
