: Around 75 per cent of the candidates aspiring to get admission in Delhi University want a seat in one of the North Campus colleges, says a study conducted by a private app-based service meant to assist students during admissions.
The messaging app, Akosha, is available on Android-based phones. The makers of the application tied up with former and current DU students to resolve admission-related queries. They have attended to questions from almost 1,000 students per day in the last 15 days.
“We invited queries some days after the Open Day sessions began and the application process was set in motion. On an average, 1,000 students send us queries each day. After studying these, we found that 75 per cent of students seeking admission in DU want a seat in a North Campus college. Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) tops the chart, followed by St. Stephen’s College and Hansraj College,” said a volunteer associated with Akosha.

Around 40 per cent of the queries came from Delhi residents, followed by those from Uttar Pradesh.
In terms of courses, B.Com (Honors) and Economics (Honors) drew the maximum questions. These courses have always been among the most sought-after with high cut-offs.
“Akosha enlisted second-year DU students to answer admission queries as they are acquainted with the university’s requirements,” the volunteer added.
