More than 48 hours after a young toll-tax collector was shot dead at Kherki Dhaula toll plaza on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway in the early hours of Friday, the Haryana Police on Sunday said they were yet to make a breakthrough in the case.
“There is no breakthrough. Investigations are on. It is difficult to say how long it will take. We are making all efforts to identify the culprit,” said Gurgaon Police Commissioner S. S. Deshwal. Several police teams are conducting enquiries in the nearby villages and vehicles registration records are being examined in an effort to trace the culprit.
The victim, Umesh Kumar Pandey, was shot in the chest by an unidentified assailant, who was travelling in a white Bolero, following an altercation over paying of Rs.27 as fee at the toll plaza.

The chilling footage of the shooting was captured by a closed-circuit camera installed inside the booth. Though another camera did take a picture of the vehicle, the glare of the headlamps blurred out the vehicle's number plate.
