Doctors and para-medical staff working with the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in Delhi have threatened to boycott polio drive this year, demanding regularisation of jobs and wages on par with permanent doctors.
The contract employees have been on an indefinite strike since June 8 and have maintained that they will not participate in the drive unless the Delhi Government looked into their demands and offered immediate “workable solutions.” Dr. Alka Chaudhary, in-charge of Nihal Vihar dispensary in West Delhi blocks said: “Though the NRHM is a Central Government scheme, the salaries are paid by the States.”
The group held a protest rally, earlier this week, at the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office but maintained that their protest has borne no result so far.

The NRHM contractual employees have maintained that they are not only discriminated in terms of salary but also on health benefits.
