NHRC decision unjustified conclusion: Bharti

Former Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti has criticised the NHRC decision, describing it “as an unjustified conclusion and an attempt to influence the court proceedings”. The Commission on Friday directed the Delhi Government to pay Rs.25,000 each to 12 African women, who were allegedly subjected to “racial prejudice” by Mr. Bharti.

In a statement, Mr. Bharti said the NHRC did not follow the principles of natural justice.

“The matter is

sub judice and it is beyond any reasonable understanding that the NHRC has arrived at conclusions without waiting for the outcome of the court proceedings. I have filed an application seeking re-investigation and a probe into the role of the police,” said the statement.

He said that he had submitted a video and documentary evidence of the entire incident in his application filed in the Saket Court, which directly contradicts the bizarre language used in the NHRC press release.
