NGT rap for Delhi over garbage

Tribunal asks govt about steps taken to address the issue

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has rapped the Delhi government for being “unable to deal with the growing mountain of garbage and lack of infrastructure to ensure safe dumping”.

A Bench headed by NGT chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar directed the AAP government to apprise it of the steps taken to “reduce the height of the mountains of waste in Bhalswa, Ghazipur and Okhla”. Last year, the tribunal had constituted a committee to look into the working of waste-to-energy plants in the city.
