A Patiala House court on Monday remanded BSP MP Dhananjay Singh and his wife Jagriti Singh, who have been arrested in connection with the murder of a female domestic help, to four days’ judicial custody after the prosecution argued that they were waiting for some reports to confront the couple.
Appearing for the Delhi Police, Additional Public Prosecutor Mukul Kumar told the court that the post-mortem report of the deceased, Rakhi, and the forensic report of the video recorder submitted by the MP were awaited. The police said they might need further custody of the accused after the receipt of the reports. The defence lawyers for both Mr. Singh and Jagriti urged the court that they be granted bail. Jagriti’s defence argued that she was suffering from acute mental depression and cited media reports on her uncontrolled behaviour. The court told the defence to produce her medical reports on the next date of hearing. On Mr. Singh’s bail application, the court directed the police to file its response on November 15, the date when the judicial custody of the couple ends.
It also directed the investigators to file a report regarding the previous involvement, if any, of Mr. Singh in the case.

The BSP MP also moved an application for preserving the CCTV footages, CDR and cloned data of DVRs and hard disks.
The police have traced the house of Meena, another domestic help who has accused the couple of torturing her, to West Bengal. Meena’s 18-year-old son Rajan Sardar has reportedly agreed to come to the Capital to meet his mother who is undergoing treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for the serious injuries she sustained allegedly at the hands of the accused couple.
