With the mercury refusing to plummet, power demand continued to soar, with the Capital recording this year’s highest power demand of 5,465 MW on Tuesday.
Power experts have indicated that the demand will rise hereon, with the maximum expected to reach 6,400 MW.
However, the troubles of Delhiites continued as several areas reeled under prolonged or intermittent power outages through the day. Agitated residents took to the streets protesting against the ongoing power cuts.

East, West and Outer Delhi continued to suffer blackouts lasting to six hours on Monday. Outages were also reported from several other areas, including Friends Colony, Maharani Bagh and Gulmohar Avenue in South Delhi, as well as most of Central Delhi and the Walled City.
In East Delhi areas like Karawal Nagar, Mayur Vihar, Laxmi Nagar, Karkardooma and Krishna Nagar faced power outages.
In Central Delhi, Nai Sarak and Chawri Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Delhi Gate, Daryaganj, Patel Nagar and Paharganj were also affected.
