Citizens can now monitor performance of officers of the Delhi Government’s Food, Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department online.
Besides getting real time information about pendency and disposal of applications for providing food security ration cards by the department officers made on the website, all decisions pertaining to the applications can also be monitored on the department’s website, Minister of Food Supplies & Consumer Affairs Asim Ahmed Khan said on Sunday.
Officials said the initiative has been launched to improve transparency in the functioning of the department and interested parties could immediately appeal against the decision of approval/rejection of their application for food security card.

The department has 70 offices in Delhi where applications for grant of food security can be submitted. Each office has one Food & Supply Officer and Inspector who scrutinizes these applications and decides eligibility of the applicants to get food security under the National Food Security Act 2013.
Citizens can visit the website and click on the link named “Date wise Disposal of Applications by FSO/Inspector” which has been provided on the home page of the portal nfs.delhi.gov.in on the right hand side under the head “Citizens Corner”. Details of all applications is available in the respective circle sections on the website along with pending cases
“The facility has led to greater transparency in the process of inclusion of households under Food Security Act. Citizen can immediately see the names of people sanctioned food security and can file objection against inclusion. Similarly applicants whose food security application has been rejected can file appeal against this decision,” Mr. Khan said.

Pendency of applications in a circle is also visible to people.
Since total pendency of applications has also been put in the public domain, it puts pressure on the staff to clear the pendency expeditiously, he added.
