Mock drills to check disaster management

To check the prepared of various agencies involved in disaster management in Delhi, a major plan has been drawn out to conduct mock drills across the city and in association with all the departments and agencies concerned.

Delhi Revenue Minister A.K. Walia has directed the Divisional Commissioner to ensure that mock drills at all levels are conducted and a schedule for four months has been prepared for this purpose.

During this period, the mock drills would cover all major religious places, important monuments, government offices, railway stations, media offices, embassies, malls and hotels.

The National Disaster Relief Force and tge Army will be involved in these mock drills during November.

The drills will also evaluate the response and efficiency of the hospitals. They will also be linked with the relief centres in November and December.

During these two months, the mock drills will also be linked with emergency and helplines.

Then in January, a State-level mock drill will be conducted taking into account a major earthquake scenario.

All nine district disaster management authorities will be involved in this exercise.

Besides, the Railways, the Army, NDRF, Delhi Metro and all the Disaster Management Centres set up by Fire Department and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will also participate in this State-level mock drill.
