Mishra accuses Jain of trying to break protest

Says doctors are providing police with false information

Former Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra and his wife offering puja at the Hanuman Mandir as his hunger strike entered the fourth consecutive day in New Delhi on Saturday.

Sacked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kapil Mishra on Saturday accused Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain of attempting to forcibly break his hunger strike, which entered its fourth day here. Mr. Mishra accused the Minister of attempting to put an end to his fast on the basis of “false reports” about his falling blood sugar level.

“Doctors employed by Mr. Jain”, he alleged, were giving false information to the police.

Funding of foreign tours

Mr. Mishra is scheduled to bring to light an exposé on public funds spent on foreign tours by AAP Ministers.

In an “open letter”, the former Water Minister demanded that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal put up in public domain information about foreign trips undertaken by senior Ministers in his government.

A significant chunk of information related to this issue recently surfaced in the form of an RTI query.

Repeated attempts to contact the ousted Minister, however, did not yield a response.

Sources in the APP, meanwhile, told The Hindu they had concrete evidence of water supply-related issues, which, a senior party functionary claimed, had surfaced multiple times and “got more serious in the run-up to the Delhi civic polls”. These issues reportedly crept up from time to time during Mr. Mishra’s tenure in the Water department, and led to his ouster.

While Mr. Mishra hit out at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for using AAP MLAs as “shields”, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia retaliated by alleging that Mr. Mishra’s indefinite fast was sponsored by the BJP.
