Bollywood actor Milind Soman came calling to the Capital on Tuesday to kick-start Volunteer for Change Campaign by Community Against Drunken Driving, a youth engagement programme to sensitise the public about the perils of drunken driving.
Launching the campaign by unveiling awareness stickers, the actor, known as the marathon man in the film industry, said: “I applaud this effort to reach out to a large number of youngsters. This initiative is necessary as we need to bring about a change in our society. I will be a part of all school and college activities and am also planning a run.”
According to Prince Singhal of CADD, Delhi has become the drunken driving capital of the country because alcohol is flowing freely in numerous pubs, restaurants and also outlets in malls. “Several places like Hauz Khas Village, Khan Market and Saket have become hubs of drunken driving.”

Mr. Singhal said a large number of young volunteers would distribute free stickers to vehicle owners in their educational institutes, at their place of residence, at traffic junctions, parking lots, market places and even community parks. “The idea behind is to make it a community campaign and involve the youth in bringing down such tragedies.”
