A number of people who were at the Delhi High Court in connection with their scheduled cases have become victims of the blast here in which at least nine people have been killed and 45 others injured.
Lawyer Sanjeev Beniwal, who rushed his client Mehtab Singh (55) to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, could not hold his tears back after doctors said Singh had succumbed to injuries.
“He (Singh) was fighting a property-related case at the court. He was getting his pass made when the blast occurred.

His son Rohit and my associate Sachin Powa have also been injured. We rushed them to hospital and I just want them to be safe as I could not save Singh,” Mr. Beniwal, who himself got injured in the blast, said.
RML Medical Superintendent T S Sidhu said that over a dozen people were brought to the hospital after the blast.
Neeru Mahendra, wife of another injured Pramod Mahendra, was seen running helter-skelter to arrange for medical aid and other facilities for her husband at the hospital.

“He had gone to the court as our daughter Aarti Sabharwal is fighting a dowry case. He is injured and is in bad shape,” Ms. Mahendra said.
He was waiting for the lawyer when the blast occurred, she said.
One of the victims of the blast, 55-year old Ashok was brought to the RML Hospital with injuries in his legs and hearing difficulty.
“My father cannot hear and has received shrapnel injuries and has been operated upon. I waited for nearly an hour before getting access to my father. My father had gone to High Court for a case. My neighbours told me about the incident,” his son Rakesh said with tears in his eyes.
Two victims each were admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
53-year-old Harcharan suffered ear injuries while 32-year-old Naheem and 38-year-old Hasmukh Jha were treated for wounds on the chest and limbs.
