Man stabbed over 20 times, dies

He had slapped one of the accused over last year’s fight

A 26-year-old was stabbed over 20 times in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai on Monday after he allegedly slapped a man to settle the score in a fight that happened last year, the police said on Tuesday. Gagan and Priyansh have been arrested in connection with the incident, they said. Sonu was a resident of Nai basti in Devli.

The police received a call around 11 p.m. on Monday about a stabbing at Budh Bazar Road in Sangam Vihar. A team reached the spot and found Sonu lying in a pool of blood. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Vijay Kumar said investigation revealed Sonu’s quarrel with Gagan during Janmashtami celebrations a year ago. He said Sonu was reportedly beaten by Gagan and others but the issue was sorted and none of the persons involved approached the police.

Sonu was travelling with his friend Manish on Monday, when he spotted Gagan in the market. Sonu asked Manish to stop the vehicle, the senior officer said. He slapped Gagan a few times to settle the score. In return, Gagan and Priyansh stabbed him over 20 times, he said.

A case had been registered, the police said.
