Man rapes 17-year-old girlafter befriending her on FB

Accused held; guest house where incident happened under lens

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 23-year-old man on Wednesday at a guest house in north-west Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar. The accused has been arrested, the police said on Friday.

The accused, Himalya, was arrested on Thursday, said a senior police officer. The victim told the police that she came in contact with the accused on Facebook and they became friends.

‘ID not checked’

“The victim said that Himalya invited her to a guest house, where he got her drunk and raped her. The girl went home and told her mother, who approached the police,” the officer said.

The police said though they have arrested the accused, they have also booked the guest house staff for allowing the minor inside without checking her identity. “The girl was allowed after her thumbprint was taken. They did not follow the rules. Therefore, they are also being held responsible,” said the officer.

The girl was produced before the court for her statement and was counselled later, the police said.
