A 38-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by two persons, including his uncle, near his house at Mundka in West Delhi in the early hours of Sunday over a property dispute. The two accused have been arrested and the murder weapons recovered.
Sunil was sleeping in a temple close to his residence when he was woken up by his uncle Prithvi Nand and his accomplice Satpal around 4 a.m. The duo allegedly shot him from close range and fled from the spot. Sunil sustained three bullet injuries. Hearing the gunshots, his relatives came out and rushed him to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Sunil lived with his parents, wife and a daughter. One of his relatives told the police that he was shot at by Prithvi Nand, who lives not far from his house. Enquiries by the police revealed that there was an ongoing property-related dispute between Sunil and his uncle.
The two recently had a property division, after which Prithvi Nand rented out his share to someone. However, it is alleged that Sunil forced him out of that place and this led to a rift between him and his uncle.

“Based on the complaint, we picked up Prithvi Nand for questioning. During interrogation, he confessed to having murdered Sunil along with his accomplice Satpal. The other accused has also been arrested and the murder weapons recovered,” said a police officer.
Prithvi Nand purportedly told the interrogators that Sunil, who previously worked as a driver and was given to drinking, would misbehave with his tenants and drive them out of his property. When he did not mend his ways despite several warnings, Prithvi Nand allegedly decided to eliminate him.
According to the police, he arranged the weapons in conspiracy with Satpal and then shot Sunil dead.

“The allegations made by both the sides are being verified,” said the officer.
