Victim had objected to relationship; accused executed crime with help of cousin

A 26-year-old man and his cousin have been arrested for allegedly killing a 31-year-old man in Dwarka’s Chhawla on November 7 over an extramarital affair, the police said on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said accused Sachin Chauhan and his cousin Bobby allegedly stabbed Amit.

“Sachin was in a relationship with Amit’s wife before their marriage. They continued their relationship even after her marriage and would meet often in Amit’s absence. When Amit came to know about it, the couple fought. Amit threatened Sachin with dire consequences if he did not stop,” Mr. Alphonse said.

Amit’s body was found in the morning on November 8. During investigation, the police learnt about Sachin’s relationship with Amit’s wife. When the police reached Sachin’s house in Pul Prahaladpur, the neighbours told them that he had been missing since November 7.

During interrogation, Sachin allegedly told the police that he met Amit on November 7 on the pretext of resolving the issue. “Sachin had roped in his cousin and two friends Sunny and Deepu. On November 7, they took Amit in Sachin’s car towards Najafgarh. A quarrel erupted between Amit and Sachin, after which the accused stabbed Amit several times before throwing his body in the bushes,” the DCP said, adding that the car and weapon have been seized.
