Accused caught by victim’s family

A 21-year-old man has been held for allegedly trying to rape a one-year-old girl in Rohini’s Aman Vihar on Monday night, the police said on Tuesday. They said that the accused was caught red-handed by the minor’s family.

A senior officer privy to the case said that the accused is employed as a worker at an eatery, which belongs to the victim’s uncle.

“On Monday night, he went to her house and lured her into coming with him on the pretext of giving her toffees. He took her to a room where he used to prepare food for the eatery,” the officer said.

The accused allegedly undressed the minor and tied her hands with a cloth. He also allegedly stuffed a cloth in her mouth to prevent her from shouting.

Found in room

“Meanwhile, the girl’s family started to worry about her and started to look for the accused. They found him in the room while he was trying to force himself upon the girl. The man was caught before he could do any harm,” the officer claimed.

The girls’s family along with locals thrashed the accused before calling the police who reached the spot and arrested him.
