Chennai-based businessman was caught red-handed

A 29-year-old Chennai-based businessman was arrested from a hotel in west Delhi’s Kirti Nagar on Wednesday for allegedly filming a woman while she was bathing, the police said.

Deepak Bora, who deals in furniture and was staying in the Kirti Nagar hotel with two friends, was allegedly caught red-handed.

The complainant, a 23-year-old resident of Ranchi, is a college student who was in the city on an education tour along with 140 other students and faculty members. The group had checked into the hotel on Tuesday evening.

The woman was in the shower on Wednesday morning when she spotted movement near the shared ventilation space of the adjoining room’s bathroom. A closer look revealed that someone was holding a mobile phone.

She rushed out and informed her teacher about the incident. The teacher raised the issue with hotel staff and informed the police. The police went to Mr. Bora’s room and seized his mobile phone.

The accused initially tried to mislead the police claiming that he was asleep at the time of the incident and accused his two friends, who were sharing the room. Mr. Bora’s friends were released after their mobile phones were examined and they were questioned. The police have seized Mr. Bora’s mobile phone and sent it for forensic examination.
