Man arrested for raping 9-year-old

‘Victim bled from private parts’

A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old man in north-west Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar on Tuesday evening, the police said on Wednesday. The accused was arrested within three hours of the crime, they said.

The victim, who was bleeding from the private parts, is currently undergoing treatment at a city hospital, the police said.

Vacant building

The minor was playing outside her residence on Tuesday evening when the accused lured her to a vacant building and took her to the top floor, the police said.

On finding the room locked, he took her to the washroom of the same building and sexually assaulted her.

The accused threatened her with dire consequences and left the building, the police said.

Her family members, who were looking for her, spotted her walking in the lanes of the same area. They allegedly told the police that she was bleeding and also complained of stomach ache.

When asked what had happened to her, she pointed towards the vacant building, they said.

“Locals had spotted the accused coming out of the building. He worked as a caterer in the area and was arrested within three hours of the crime,” said a senior police officer.

Undergoes surgery

The girl was taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, where she underwent a surgery.

“She was brought to the hospital around 9.30 p.m. A surgery was carried out as the minor had a hymen tear. Later, she was shifted to Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital after her condition was stable,” said a doctor from the hospital.
