The last day of campaigning for Sunday's municipal elections in Delhi kicked off with motorcycle rallies, padyatras and local public meetings addressed by candidates on Friday.
The general elections to Delhi's three municipal corporations on Sunday would see a three-way fight, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) contesting for the first time. With AAP trying to make a last-minute pitch to voters, the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, the principal opposition, both ramped up campaigning on Friday.
Multiple road shows and public meetings to reach out to voters from the Bengali and Purvanchali communities were on the BJP's schedule for the day.

National BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Babul Supriyo was expected to undertake two road shows in and around Chittaranjan Park in South Delhi. Senior party leader Sushil Modi was scheduled to address Purvanchali voters in South Delhi resettlement colonies.
Mr. Supriyo and Youth Affairs Minister Vijay Goel were also scheduled to undertake a bike rally at Ajmeri Gate, on the intersection of Old and New Delhi.
Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken participated in a number of public meetings to support the campaign, starting with a road show in Jahangirpuri in North Delhi.

While the party had senior leaders, including Sachin Pilot, Raj Babbar and Nagma, campaign on Thursday, Delhi Congress vice-president Chattar Singh said Friday's events would be carried out by the candidates themselves.
In the final day of the campaigns, AAP stuck to area-specific public meetings. Candidates in most constituencies organised door-to-door campaigns and reiterated their manifesto promises. Later in the day, MLAs of the areas are also likely to join the candidates in meeting people.
Campaigning for the polls to the 272 municipal wards ends at 5.30 PM on Friday.
