Four young men who allegedly kidnapped a student preparing for the National Eligibility Test at Badarpur here a few days ago, robbed him and then stabbed him to death have been arrested in South-East Delhi. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has been impounded.

The police on July 4 received a complaint from Rajesh Sharma alleging that his nephew Amit had gone missing from Badarpur. He had gone there to meet some of his friends a day earlier, but did not return to his rented accommodation at Jia Sarai. Subsequently a case was registered and search initiated.

The night Amit went missing, the New Ashok Nagar police had received an anonymous call about a man lying in an injured state near the Hindon canal. The victim was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The deceased turned out to be Amit, a post-graduate in physics from Aligarh who was taking coaching for competitive examinations from an institute in the Capital.

Amit's friends told the police that he had boarded the metro train at Badarpur on July 3. The Delhi Metro officials confirmed that he had got down at the Nehru Place metro station around 8-30 p.m. that night, after that his mobile phone was switched off.

During a routine check the police intercepted four young men when they were passing through Sarai Kale Khan near Millennium Park on Saturday. They found that the vehicle had been robbed from a person in Dhaula Kuan. Subsequently, the four were arrested. They were identified as Satpal (21), Lalit Kumar (21), Munesh Kumar (22) and Harish (23).

During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they had abducted a young man (Amit) on the pretext of giving him a lift to his destination. When they tried to rob him of his belongings, he offered residence and then they allegedly stabbed him and dumped him near Hindon canal.
